Acting out - Cavall Bernat

Aquest curs participem per primera vegada en una iniciativa pionera al barri de Sants. Algunes de les escoles del districte ens hem unit per representar una obra teatral conjunta en anglès. La nostra escola participarà amb l'alumnat de quart.
De moment hem començat amb els preparatius i hem creat uns vídeos de presentació per tal que els nens i nenes dels diferents centres es coneguin una mica més.

Halloween

Un any més, dins de l'àrea d'anglès, ens preparem per a la celebració de Halloween. Es tracta d'una festivitat tradicional heretada de les celebracions d'origen celta que s'ha estès per tot el món i especialment pels països anglosaxons. 

Fa molts segles a Bretanya, Escòcia i Irlanda, el dia 31 d'octubre se celebrava la festivitat de Samhain, que coincidia amb el darrer dia de l'any segons els antics calendaris celtes i anglosaxons. Samhain era el déu dels morts. Algunes fonts indiquen que la paraula gaèlica "Samhain" literalment vol dir "final de l'estiu". El dia que celebraven Samhain era, per tant, el dia de cap d'any. En aquella època, s'encenien grans fogueres sobre les muntanyes per foragitar els esperits malignes. També es creia que les ànimes dels morts visitaven les seves antigues cases per intentar trobar un cos on habitar, i anaven acompanyades de bruixes i esperits. Per això no s'encenia cap llum a les cases, i la gent es vestia com a bruixes o dimonis per tal que cap ànima volgués habitar el seu cos.

Amb l'arribada del cristianisme s'establí el primer dia de novembre com a Dia de Tots Sants. En aquell moment, el 31 s'octubre es convertí en All Hallows Eve (anglès antic per All Saints Eve, és a dir: "vigília de Tots Sants"), d'on va sortir la paraula Halloween.

Moltes de les tradicions de Halloween es varen convertir en jocs infantils que els immigrants irlandesos portaren als Estats Units en el segle XIX. A partir d'aquí, la tradició, per la colonització cultural dels Estats Units d'Amèrica, es va començar a estendre per la resta del món, i fins i tot ha arribat a absorbir els costums que portava associats el Dia de Tots Sants, passant alguna de les seves tradicions a la vigília. [Font wikipedia]

A l'escola cada any expliquem una mica en què consisteix aquesta festivitat i preparem contes, cançons i jocs relacionats amb la festa. Al llarg d'aquesta setmana hem decorat l'aula d'anglès amb pumpkins (carbasses), spiders (aranyes), ghosts (fantasmes) i altres criatures fantàstiques. Hem cantat cançons i fet jocs i per acabar hem muntat amb l'ajuda dels alumnes de sisè un carrusel d'activitats per a tots els nens i nenes de primària . Ha estat una bona feinada però també cal dir que el resultat ha pagat la pena! I és que els nens i nenes de primària s'ho han passat pipaaa!! De fet ja ens estan preguntant quins jocs farem l'any vinent! 

Taller de puppets: quines titelles de dit més boniques han fet els nens i nenes de primer i segon. Son tots uns artistes!

Halloween balloon game: be careful! compte! Que no caiguin els globus! i sobre tot feu bon equip amb la vostra parella per portar-los d'una banda a l'altra del pati.

 

Roll a Frankenstein game:a veure qui és el primer en completar aquestes simpàtiques cares de Frankenstein. Mireu el dau i seguiu les instruccions: numbre one, add an eye, number two, add a scar, number three ...

 

Hit the bricks: poseu-vos a prova intentant tombar el màxim nombre de caixes i sumant els punts totals. Ten, fifteen, twenty,... one hundred!!

Fishing pumpkins: quina carbassa pescaré? Escolliré yellow or blue?

Tots s'ho han passat d'alló més bé fent les proves sorpresa que estaven amagades dins de les petites "pumpkins" Walk like a skeleton, fly on a broom, crawl like a snake...

Find the bones: ready, steady, go!!! Tots a còrrer amb el voste equip per trobar els ossos amagats pel pati! Quines corredisses!

Taller de "Bat Book corners" o punts de llibre en forma de ratpenat, monstre o criatura de Halloween. Han fet un treball de papiroflèxia increible!

Knock, knock song

Al llarg de la setmana hem estat cantant la cançó "Knock, knock, trick or treat" que ha agradat molt a tots els cursos. Han aprés la lletra i també les accions relacionades.

Welcome again to the English blog!

Aquest curs som tres les mestres que farem l'anglès a l'escola amb els vostres fills i filles. Així que si necessiteu parlar amb nosaltres, sapigueu que us heu d'adreçar a la Raquel si els vostres fills fan 1r o 2n, a l'Anna si fan 3r i a la Maite si van a 4t, 5è o 6è.
Esperem gaudir d'un bon any i aprendre moltes coses noves en aquesta llengua que ens entusiasma!!

Billy Banjo - Cicle Mitjà

Next Wednesday 20th of May our students in year 3 and 4 are going to the theatre to watch a show by IPA Productions Company.

Blue sheep, blue sheep, what do you see?

Year 2 students have created a very special audiobook version of Eric Carle's book "Brown bear, Brown bear, What do you see?".

Halloween 2014

Year 1, 2 and 3 celebrated Halloween the last week of October. The theme of this year’s competition was “witches and wizards”, so we challenged our students and their families to make the most original witches’ hats and wizards’ wands out of recycled materials such as paper, cardboard, kitchen foil or drinking straws and to decorate them with lots of glitter, colours and spooky things.
The hats and wands were all so amazing that the teachers had a really hard time picking just one winner of each class.
Big thanks to all those who participated, your hats and wands were absolutely fantastic!!

Competències bàsiques 6è EP

Com ja sabeu, els alumnes de sisè passen unes proves de competències bàsiques al final de primària més de caire analític per millorar els centres, que no pas d’avaluació dels nostres infants.

La prova de competència lingüística en llengua estrangera avalua:

• La comprensió lectora i la comprensió oral mitjançant ítems tancats que avaluen els processos d’obtenció d’informació i d’interpretació.
• L’expressió escrita, amb l’elaboració d’una breu producció, pautada i contextualitzada.  Es mesura la competència discursiva (coherència i adequació, guiades pel plantejament de l’activitat) i la competència lingüística (lèxic, morfosintaxi, ortografia de nivell bàsic).

Aquest any les proves seran el 7 de maig i s’han introduït alguns canvis en el full de resposta,

Per agilitar el procés de correcció dels quaderns de la prova, aquest any s’ha introduït un nou sistema de resposta.

Les respostes a les preguntes tancades ja no es marquen al quadern de la prova, sinó en un full de respostes.

Cal tenir en compte que:
- En la prova de llengua estrangera es recomana que les activitats de comprensió oral es contestin primer al quadern i que després es passin les respostes al full de respostes. La redacció també s’ha de fer al quadern.

Alguns models de prova per si voleu que els vostres fills i filles practiquin una mica… (Hi ha cops que els resultats baixen per la novetat del model d’examen!)

Snow White and Robin Hood

Every year students at Cavall Bernat School go to the theatre to watch a show. This year, year 1, 2, 3 and 4 watched the well known play "Snow White" and year 5 and 6 "Robin Hood"

After watching "Robin Hood" there was an after show activity in which our students could ask questions to the actors related to the play. It was very interesting! and they tried hard to speak in English. Well done!

Halloween contest

This year we have celebrated Halloween at school as usual. Our English classroom has changed for some days into a place full of spiders and webs, witches, monsters and more... Following the previous year competition, we proposed our students to create pumpkins and brooms at home and bring them back to school to display. The results have been amazing. You can see some pictures here: 

Thank you all for your collaboration. Your pumpkins and brooms were brilliant!!

 

 

And the winners of the pumpkin/broom competition were: Yassin from year 5 and Fátima from year 1. CONGRATULATION!!!

ELEPHANTS' NEWS

The elephants are working the story of the very hungry caterpillar and  they have observed how caterpillars make the cocoons and become butterflies.
Thanks to the pandas' classroom for letting us see their caterpillars !.

WALKING THROUGH THE JUNGLE

The dinosaurs are working the story "Walking through the jungle". They love it and here, they can watch it as many times as they want.

Curly town

Year 4 students have created a beautiful display. They have drawn shops, buildings, transports, people and roads to later stick them in a city map. Then they have written a description of this imaginary city.
Good collaborative work, children!!

My school

In my school there is a gym.There are nine classrooms, three playgrounds, some corridors and toilets.

There is a library, a computer room and a big theatre.

CHRISTMAS

The Dinosaurs have been working Christmas.

They've started with the story of the Gingerbread man. If you don't know the story here you've got a link.







After that, they've eaten real Gingerbread cookies. They're delicious! Look at their faces.

And, finally, they've made very nice Christmas counting books. Have a look  !

And to finish this work, The Dinosaurs and The Elephants have sang a funny song about Santa.
